                   Edith Rojas, MSW
     Registered Clinical Social Work Intern

My name is Edith Rojas. I am a therapist working on becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area. Received my Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Work at Western New Mexico University. While pursuing my undergraduate and graduate studies, I interned at Hope Psychotherapy, providing therapy services to children, teens, couples, families, and groups. I learned several techniques to provide therapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am also a Guardian Ad Litem which has assisted me with learning about children and family dynamics and advocating for what is necessary to fill in gaps for families to communicate more effectively and work together for the child’s benefit.

I began my social work career working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence as a shelter supervisor, providing crisis counseling, intakes, discharge, and hotline calls. I then started working with Youth and Family Alternatives as a Case Manager providing resources and empowering families in the dependency system. The experience of working with this population has taught me to have an open mind and to understand that everyone has a back story and needs someone to help them process their emotions so they can healthily manage their emotions.               Christina Nguyen, MSW
   Registered Clinical Social Work Intern

Hello! My name is Christina Nguyen, and I am a Brown University and the University of South Florida, graduate. I enjoy working with groups, families, couples, and individuals in navigating life transitions, relationships with others, grief and loss/end-of-life, trauma, and meaning and purpose in this ever-changing world. I am trained in EMDR to assist those with trauma.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and warm. My clinical framework draws from humanistic and existential thought, family systems theory, and experiential and compassion-based therapy. Through the relationship between the therapist and the client, the client will learn to take a curious stance on who one is with oneself and others. The journey begins, like the curious paradox states, when one accepts oneself just as one is; one can change. When the caterpillar thought its life was over, it became a butterfly.

Entry to therapy can hold many fears and worries for individuals, but you are here and worth celebrating. I want to welcome you to your journey. Welcome!

            Jackie Gosley-McFarlane, MSW
              Licensed Clinical Social Work

My name is Jacqueline Gosley-McFarlane. I was born and raised in London, England, and relocated to Queens, New York as a teenager. I received my Master of Social Work degree at New York State University at Stony Brook in New York and relocated to Tampa, Florida, in 2004. My introduction to the field of social welfare began when I worked as a Befriender at a substance misuse inpatient center in Stockwell, London, where I counseled adult patients going through various stages of drug and alcohol recovery, educating the participants on accessing the methadone clinic and the acupuncture clinic interventions provided by the center.

I spent many years working with children and adults with intellectual disabilities in community-based residential settings. I provided behavioral interventions, support, and guidance to individuals, assisted and trained family representatives in behavioral techniques, and maintained consistency in the individual’s environment.

While pursuing my graduate study, I interned at Passages Counseling Center in New York, providing individual and group therapy and facilitating women’s groups with adults abusing various substances. I learned an array of therapy techniques I utilized while counseling the population. I also had the opportunity to intern at the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency room at University Hospital at Stony Brook, where I provided intake and assessments, coordinating hospital inpatient services, outpatient referrals, community services, and discharge planning. While at this placement, I encountered individuals of all ages, including children from various economic backgrounds struggling with mental health issues. I enjoy working with individuals providing empathy, compassion, and empowerment while helping to identify key issues they are struggling with and working through those issues while guiding them to identify and utilize their own hidden and/or transparent strengths.
